Disappointing Experience

Posted by dougster3223 on 7/16/2008

My mother-in-law was in town and wanted this style of a restaurant so we went to Fuji. Our hibachi grill seated 8. There were 6 in our party and another couple joined us. First I will say the food was great but with the right ingredients you can have great food anywhere. I was disappointed in our cook who didn't chat with any of us. I also asked him if he had ever been to Japan and he said "yes" so I asked him about something I ate in Japan once. He laughed and said, "I lied....I've never been to Japan". There was no show like most places put on, and the prices, I felt, were high. I got the cheapest plate, the shrimp plate, and it was $17.95. Even though mother-in-law paid for it, I don't think we'll go back. It also sets in a storefront instead of being a free-standing restaurant.

After last night, I will no longer be a customer.

We went to Fuji on Feb. 17th with about 15 other people. When we arrived, they told us the room we requested would not be available. This wasn't a big deal for our group, so we were seated in the sushi bar area. We were there almost 30 minutes and our waitress hadn't come over once. Finally, someone found her just so we could order drinks. She was rude from the beginning and seemed like she didn't want to be there, but we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Then she began to take our orders and decided to only do part of the table at the time. Some people at the table started to get their food, and others hadn't even had the chance to order. After half the table got their food and I still hadn't been able to order, I went to talk to the manager. Well, the manager wasn't there and the hostess was the manager on duty. I walked into her talking to my server, and my server pointed me out and called me "the b****." After I saw this I told the manager we needed to see her at our table. She came over and blamed the service on a "language barrier." I informed her that everyone at the table is either a manager, server, or cook in a restaurant and we understood that it was difficult to work a party of that size and maybe her server needed some help. And the manager replied, "What she needs is for you sit down and stay in your seat." I mentioned her calling me a b****, and her response was, "I know." Not a sorry, nothing. We finally order and all had our food. As soon as she could clear the table, she brought our checks. Also, she gave us seperate checks for every drink we ordered. So between my husband and I we had to sign five seperate credit card slips. One for each drink, and one for dinner. At the end of our meal, several people asked to talk to the manager and ended up talking to Chris the "owner." He was also unapologetic and did not listen to any of our concerns. I will never return to Fuji and hopefully this will save others the horrible experience I had.

Sneaky Billing....

Posted by nealmeg on 2/5/2008

My two friends and I went to dinner here and as is normal for a hibachi grill, we were placed at a table with five complete strangers. When our bills came, I noticed it said gratuity but for some reason I was thinking it had on the bill a guide to show you how much to tip the server. OH NO. The next day my friend called me and notified me that we were charged gratuity for parties greater than six!!! That, to me, is very shady.

THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING!!!

I went to Fuji for the first time with a friend of mine who said the sushi was good. The sushi was alright but my experience was less than great. I ordered a roll and when I poured the soy sauce, a fly was in the sauce. I told the waitress who apologized, and she brought me another peice of the roll that I already dipped in the sauce. She then questioned whether or not it was an actual fly. She said at first she thought it was a different insect, and then she said when she was pouring it out it was a mushroom. It was definetly a fly. Although it crossed my mind to call management I let it go because the food was so cheap, but I will NEVER GO BACK TO FUJI AGAIN. NO, they did not offer to make the meal be "on the house", showing the lack of respect for the customer and the lack of respect for the restaurant itself. Anyone who is considering going somewhere where dead flies may be in the food needs to reconsider and go elsewhere.

four out of seven rolls were wrong ingredients - check your rolls
